Much like its name-sake, this machine is absolutely crazy. Our Twilight Zone here at TOSP has recently had a full cabinet refurbishment and is modified to high heaven. Most notably, in the upper right hand corner of the wide-body playing field, a 2" 'television' powered by a raspberry pi plays episodes of "The Twilight Zone" from the late 50s and early 60s. Bonkers. It is said that Bally Williams gave Pat Lawler absolute free reign to design whatever he chose without any real restrictions when development on the Twilight Zone began, and it really shows in the gameplay. This pinball is without question the most feature packed ever built.
A stunning game unlike any other ever made, Twilight Zone is packed full of features. The gumball machine in the upper left hand corner of the pinball houses several pinballs which are rotated throughout gameplay as balls are locked. Most notably, there is a unique ceramic pinball which, unlike their steel counterparts, zips across the playing field due to its comparatively light weight. This leads to thrilling, unpredictable and chaotic gameplay.
Why then, do we here at TOSP rank this machine third amongst our collection? This machine is the most impressive game in our collection, without a doubt. Simply put, TAF is the most consistently fun pinball weve ever played and Cirqus Voltaire is as much fun as TTZ and more aesthetically pleasing. These games are also less punishing of poor play – which perhaps says more about our skill levels than the games themselves.
